Veterinary Kinetics Rehab is proud to announce a major addition to our in-home diagnostic capabilities: the GAITFour system—a state-of-the-art, pressure-sensitive walkway that brings advanced mobility diagnostics right to your doorstep.

With this new tool, we are reinforcing our commitment to delivering measurable, science-backed rehabilitation for pets in the comfort of their homes. As one of the first mobile veterinary rehab practices in California to implement this technology, we are elevating how we assess and track your pet’s movement—every step of the way.

What Is GAITFour?

GAITFour is a portable, electronic pressure-sensitive walkway system used to measure a variety of spatial and temporal gait parameters in quadrupeds. This includes things like stride length, step time, stance duration, and pressure distribution—key indicators in diagnosing mobility issues and monitoring progress over time.

The system itself includes a roll-up walkway with a 24-inch-wide active area. Embedded in the surface are rows of highly sensitive pressure sensors arranged just ½ inch apart. As your pet walks across the mat, the sensors detect every paw strike. The system’s sophisticated software then processes this data, identifying patterns and calculating precise gait metrics.

Smarter Diagnostics. Better Outcomes.

In veterinary rehabilitation, it’s not enough to just see improvement—we need to measure it. GAITFour makes this possible by giving us hard data to support clinical observations. With this tool, we can:

  • Detect subtle lameness or asymmetries that might not be visible to the eye.
  • Objectively assess baseline movement before initiating treatment.
  • Compare data over time to evaluate how a pet is responding to therapy.
  • Adjust rehab plans based on real, trackable progress—not guesswork.

This level of diagnostic precision helps ensure that every pet receives a tailored program that meets their unique needs and challenges.

Setting the Standard for Mobile Veterinary Rehab in California

While GAITFour is used in some university teaching hospitals and specialty centers, it’s extremely rare to find it in a mobile setting. Veterinary Kinetics Rehab is proud to be one of the first ambulatory practices in California to make this technology available to patients in their homes.

This means your pet now has access to the same high-end diagnostic tools used in elite facilities—without the stress of a clinic visit.

What This Means for You and Your Pet

When your pet is recovering from injury, surgery, or age-related decline, every improvement matters. With GAITFour, we can now show you those improvements in numbers—not just words. You’ll see how your pet’s balance, stride, and limb loading improve over time, and we’ll work with you to adjust the care plan as needed.

Whether your pet is taking their first post-surgical steps or building strength through a rehab program, you’ll have greater confidence that the therapy is working—because the results are visible and measurable.

Our Ongoing Commitment to Innovation

At Veterinary Kinetics Rehab, we believe that your pet deserves the best—whether that’s through the skillful hands of a veterinarian, the integration of Eastern and Western therapies, or the application of advanced tools like GAITFour.

We are constantly seeking new ways to improve patient outcomes and bring the highest standard of care directly to your home. The addition of GAITFour is just one more way we’re turning that belief into action.

See the Difference—Step by Step

The GAITFour system is now part of the advanced diagnostic toolkit available through Veterinary Kinetics Rehab. While not every case requires its use, Dr. Pollard-Wright may incorporate GAITFour to better assess baseline movement or track treatment progress when it’s clinically appropriate.

If your pet is undergoing rehabilitation or struggling with mobility issues, schedule an in-home evaluation to learn how Veterinary Kinetics Rehab’s evidence-based approach—and tools like GAITFour—can help support their recovery.
